1/2 cup cooked shrimp, sliced

1/2 cup cooked salmon, sliced

1 sheet nori

Wasabi paste (optional)

Soy sauce (optional)

Instructions:


Cook the rice according to package directions.

While the rice is cooking, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 minute.

Remove the rice from the heat and let it cool for 10 minutes.

Add the vinegar mixture to the rice and stir until well combined.

Spread a thin layer of rice on a bamboo mat.

Top the rice with a strip of nori, shiny side down.

Place a layer of cucumber, avocado, shrimp, and salmon on top of the nori.

Roll the sushi up tightly.

Cut the sushi into 6-8 pieces.

Serve with wasabi paste and soy sauce, if desired.

Tips:


For the best results, use sushi rice. Sushi rice is a short-grain rice that is sticky and holds its shape well.

To make your own sushi rice vinegar, combine 1/2 cup rice vinegar, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 minute.

To make sushi rolls more manageable, use a bamboo mat. The bamboo mat helps to keep the rolls tight and uniform.

If you don't have a bamboo mat, you can use a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper.

To make your own wasabi paste, combine 1 tablespoon wasabi powder with 1 tablespoon water. Stir until smooth.
